We have one in our courtyard. It is called, in english, a Cherry Blossom, or a Fruitless Cherry Tree. I have no clue what it is called in French...cerissier sans fruit?

It's a Japanese cherry tree. We're having the Cherry Blossom Festival in DC right now! They're planted all around the Tidal Basin near the memorials - they're beautiful. http://www.nationalcherryblossomfestival.org/
